Applications open for charity youth coding event grants
For the third year running, European charities are being offered grants and support to run creative coding events for young people.
Local non-profits across Europe are being invited to apply for small grants to run events that boost young peoples’ digital skills.
For the third year in a row, Meet and Code will be inviting organisations to submit their coding events for young people and children aged 8-24. Non-profits from 25 countries are eligible to apply for grants on the website until 8th September 2019.
Each successful applicant will receive grant funding of up to 500 Euros towards their event, with awards going to the most creative and innovative ideas.
Finalists will then be invited to an exclusive ‘ award weekend’ with a chance to network and learn from others. Awards will be given across the following four categories: Girls do IT!, Community, Diversity, and Code for the Planet. Public votes will also be held for the best event, which will then be award the Public Choice Award.
Creating by SAP and Haus des Stiftens gGmbH in Munich, the Meet and Code programme aims to build a world where all Europeans have the digital skills to shape their own futures. The two companies coordinate the grant process along with TechSoup Europe network partners, including Tech Trust in the UK. The programme coincides with EU Code Week and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Last year, more than 50,000 young people took part in 1,100 programming events through the programme, which saw 2,000 children and young people from 22 countries take part.
